So after a workout I'm usually sore for 4-5 days. Does this mean I should not work out until I'm not sore anymore? Some workout programs call for working muscle groups every 3/4 days. What is optimal for muscle growth?

You must be new to exercising. Let me offer this advice; You will be less sore the more you workout. Soreness is one thing, pain is entirely another. Listen to your body. It will tell you when you are doing it right
